There are so many mallards that live year round in Kah Tai Nature Park that I’ve pretty much quit taking photos of them. However, this guy was kind enough to swim into the frame of the willow branch and provide me with a good focal point.
The second most common duck around here, at least this time of year is the American Widgeon. This one has been hanging out at Kah Tai Lagoon.
The highest density of ducks in the area is at Carrie Blake Park on the west end of Sequim. This pond had several hundred in it. Normally you have to visit several ponds or small lakes to see the birds but most of the ponds are frozen, so the birds congregated here.
